Gold Lifting

The gold lifting has turned out to be a very good method for the rejuvenation of the skin on the face or other regions of the body when the first aging signs (e.g. wrinkles and sagging skin) make their appearance. Fine 24 carat-gold-threads interwoven with polyglycol threads are inserted into subcutaneous layers. Due to the fact that the gold threads are quite fragile, the accompanying thread is meant to stabilize the gold threads during the implantation procedure. In order to elevate or correct deep furrows or wrinkles, the gold threads are introduced along the wrinkles` course, whereas for correcting bigger areas, a grid is constructed. The best results are obtained on the face, neck, inner thighs, inner upper arms, as well as on the abdominal region. The first signs of visible success become apparent after 4 to 6 weeks and the results hold up to 5 to 10 years. This procedure can be repeated as often as wished and does not interfere with any other treatments.
Histology
New studies carried out in the University of Murcia (Spain) explain the acting mechanism of this technique at the histological level. The polyglycolic acid generates an already known hydrolysis reaction and is therefore completely reabsorbed within approximately 60 days. The gold thread causes a reaction that could be called an "imperfect granulomatosis“, as it will almost consist of a “histiocyte crown” with only one nucleus with active peripheral fibroblasts. No giant cells with multiple nucleus or allergic reactions are observed (image I). By coloring the reticulin it has been observed that along the gold thread many of these cells are developed. At macroscopic level, a tubular tissue formation can be observed (image 2).

As a consequence of these cell processes, a reinforced hydration and skin rejuvenation occurs, thus leading to the desired lifting effect without modifying face features nor leaving behind negative signs.
Characteristics
Straight, triangular, non-traumatic needle: gold- and polyglycol threads are tightly interwoven in the needle, thus allowing a minimal discontinuity, as well as minimal trauma. The triangular point enhances both a simple penetration of the skin as well as the quick closing of the thread channel. 24-carat-gold: a material favored due to its antiallergic characteristics. Polyglycol thread: the interwoven polyglycol thread, due to its suppleness, makes a simple treatment possible and it is reabsorbed through hydrolysis without any swelling reactions. Package: the gold thread-kit is sterilized with ethylene oxide, thereby sterilizing not only the surface but also the inside of the thread. The gold-thread-kit-package is closed until the start of the application. All the mentioned characteristics allow for a simple implantation of the gold threads, thus preventing complicated manipulations that could lead to possible contaminations.
Implantation technique
After a previous disinfection of the targeted area, a local anesthesia (vasoconstrictive) is infiltrated into the insertion and extraction spots. The later course of the gold threads is marked with a felt tip pen. The gold threads are placed under the skin. The insertion and extraction spots should never coincide with the marked spots (tattoo effect!). After the complete needle has been led, the proximal end of the thread is compressed with a finger (it should not look out of the insertion spot), the rest of the thread is torn back and upwards in order to create a skin fold. The assistant will then compress the skin with hooked scissors and cut up the thread. The thread should disappear subcutaneously after the smoothing of the skin. Following to it the treated region is fixed with paper-plaster-stripes, to limit the gesture for 24 hours. After this time has elapsed, the fixation can be removed.
